Jérôme Orivel, directeur de recherche CNRS au CRBE est un spécialiste des interactions avec un intérêt particulier pour les fourmis et leurs relations avec d’autres organismes. Ses travaux explorent la diversité des interactions biotiques et leur rôle structurant dans les écosystèmes, notamment en milieu tropical. Ils se concentrent sur trois axes thématiques principaux : la structuration des communautés et les interactions biotiques, l'écologie des venins et la science participative.

The diversity of biotic interactions has so far been largely overlooked as a facet of biodiversity, although these interactions are both ubiquitous and diverse. Ants, as some of the most ubiquitous and diverse terrestrial organisms, have developed a wide range of interactions with other organisms. Through several examples of interactions involving ants, I will illustrate their underlying mechanisms and how they shape community dynamics and drive important aspects of ecosystem functioning.

Docteur en écologie, Jérôme Orivel a consacré une grande partie de sa carrière à l'étude des fourmis arboricoles en Guyane française. Ses recherches ont porté sur les comportements territoriaux et prédateurs des fourmis de la canopée tropicale, ainsi que sur leurs interactions avec d'autres organismes, tels que les plantes épiphytes et les guêpes sociales.
